IU Day Mascots 2019 Delivery
Flyover view of Indianapolis. Title: The Great Mascot Bake Off.
>> Welcome to the 2019 Great Mascot Bake Off.
Six people wearing mascot costumes and white aprons stand in a row in a commercial kitchen. Jawz, IUPUI Jaguars, a black and yellow spotted big cat. Kingston, IU Kokomo Cougars, a big brown cat. Rufus, IU East Red Wolves, a red wolf. Rufus, IU Northwest Redhawks, a red bird with a large yellow beak. Gus, IU Southeast Grenadiers, a British soldier in a red and black uniform. Titus, IU South Bend Titans, a Roman soldier with a red feathered helmet, red cape, and a sword.
For today's signature challenge, our bakers will make and decorate the ultimate IU Day dessert.
On your marks, get set, bake.
The mascots rush to their stations. Jawz uses his claws to rip through a bag of flour, sending white powder into the air as he flings it into a bowl.
It seems that Jawz is getting off to a rip-roaring start.
Kingston reads Momma K's Special Recipe Book, then pours 100 percent Organic Cat Nip into a bowl.
Kingston is really studying his recipe carefully.

Gus pulls two drumsticks out of a mixer and plays them on the rim of a pot. Then he uses one to stir.
We see Gus giving a thorough mixing to his cake batter.
Rufus the Red Wolf energetically and messily pours Dog Bones and Kibble into a bowl.
Rufus seems to be whipping up something quite creative.

Titus breaks eggs into a bowl while giving a cold stare to Rufus the Red Hawk.
Rufus the Hawk puts his hands to his mouth then places eggs in a nest, patting them gently.
Rufus the red hawk is apparently doing a vegan take on the classic decorative cake.
Rufus the Wolf picks up two squeaky balls and uses them to stir his batter.
Rufus is really incorporating some air into his batter.
It should make for a light, fluffy sponge.
Titus pulls out his sword and swings it wildly.
Titus is now portioning the butter so he can mix it evenly, getting nice, equal chunks.
He tosses the pats of butter into a pan on the stove.
Bakers, we're at the halfway mark.
Kingston wipes his brow with his paw and uses a rolling pin to roll out and beat a hunk of red dough. The mascots rush around the kitchen.
In competitions like this, even the slightest distraction can throw your timing off.

Gus uses a spyglass to get a closer look at what Jawz and Kingston are doing across the room.
He tosses a ball of yarn to the table between them. The two cats look at it, look at each other, then pounce, fighting over the yarn and knocking over kitchen tools.
And in baking, that can lead to a disastrous outcome.
Titus stabs his bowl with his sword. The mascots taunt each other as they cook.
Another piece of baking advice, precision really is the name of the game.
Getting too much flour or baking soda or water can ruin an otherwise perfect bake.
You have to have a hawk eye on some of these measurements to ensure quality product.
Rufus the Hawk pours bird seed into a measuring cup, slinging it all over the table. He dumps it into his bowl, then pecks at the table.
Bakers, time is ticking.
It's really coming down to the wire as each contestant is hoping they've saved enough time for the all-important bake.
Each mascot puts his springform pan with batter into the oven. Jawz beats his chest with his paws sending up a cloud of flour.
This is turning out to be a close competition with no room for error.
They put the final touches on their two-tiered cakes.
And time is up.
Let's see what we have here.
The Indiana University Kokomo cake has the name and logo on the bottom tier and a fondant image of Kingston on the top.
What a show-stopper.
The IUPUI cake has the name and logo on the bottom tier and the pyramid shaped Wood Fountain in icing on the top.
I hope it tastes as good as it looks.
The Indiana University East cake has the name and logo on the bottom tier and the fondant image of Rufus the Red Wolf and his paw print on the top.
Extraordinary.
Absolutely stunning.
The Indiana University Southeast cake has the name and logo on the bottom tier and a fountain between trees on the top.
The Indiana University Northwest cake has the name and logo on the bottom tier and a fondant image of Rufus on the top.
Nothing short of perfect.
The Indiana University South Bend cake has the name and logo on the bottom tier and a brick bridge in icing on the top.
These are show stoppers indeed but ultimately it is up to you, the viewer, who wins the 2019 Great Mascot Bake Off.
Vote now.
